Obviously you want to look your best and feel wonderful on your wedding day. To achieve this you need not only to plan, but also to act, ideally at least six months in advance of your big day.
Beauty treatments and fitness should commence as soon as you can. The range of treatments are huge including waxing, facial, teeth whitening and manicure, to name but a few. Timing is especially important when it comes to hair and makeup, and to ensure you look your best on your wedding day, consider a trial well in advance.
There are a whole range of experts to help you including fitness training and hair and beauty specialists. It is unlikely you will be able to cover everything yourself so consult a professional. Whatever you do, don't leave everything until the last minute.
Here’s some great ideas from hair, beauty and fitness businesses based in the West Midlands from places like Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Coventry, Worcestershire, Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Warwick, Shrewsbury and Stratford, whom you might want to get in touch with...
Don't forget to mention Your West Midlands Wedding magazine when contacting a hair, beauty or fitness professional.
I love adding fresh flowers into a bride's hair as it looks elegant and beautiful. To incorporate flowers, you need to consider how it will work with your style. If you're planning on having a low or high bun, neat or messy, your flowers need to last all day and be secure. I advise my brides to speak to their florist to organise their hair flowers. A florist will be able to wrap the flower stems onto a wire to make them stronger so they can be attached to your locks. If you have photos of your trial to show the florist, they will then be able to see the size of flower needed to fit in with your style.
For a down or half-up look, fresh blooms can look soft and elegant placed at the back of the hair or even just gripping one side so you can see the flowers from the front.

Brides-to-be are now opting for more natural-looking skin. This is ideal for those who don't wear much make-up and can be created by layering products such as oils and serums before applying foundation. Carefully placed highlighter will catch the light in the right places giving your skin a youthful glow. A soft natural hairstyle will complete this look, either soft curls with half pinned up or a low bun with loose tendrils. A sultry eye can help add something a little bit extra to a more natural look.

"After being a make-up artist for many years, I wanted to create a beautiful multi-use environment which would include a luxurious space for my clients," says Georgia. "This led to the opening of The Pump House Studio, a former Victorian pump house, located in Halesowen, West Midlands. During my varied career, I have had the pleasure of not only working with many other talented artists but also working in some fantastic places, including various television and radio sets. I have completed three years with Charlotte Tilbury, where I received continual professional training. More recently, I have promoted my bridal make-up services, and studio at several wedding shows across the UK, and I'm delighted to be attending the Ansty Hall Hotel Wedding show on the 16th January, 2022. My bridal packages are designed so that you have stress free experience from the trial to the wedding day. Tailored to your needs, I will create a fabulous make-up look on you using the best products with the greatest of care and expertise.

"I strongly recommend all my brides create a good skincare routine as soon as possible. For dry skin, I would use an exfoliating mask every seven to 10 days. CeraVe does a lovely cleansing foam wash that would be fantastic to use morning and night. Invest in a good moisturiser and night cream. Serums are very good for dry skin, and there are a lot of affordable options on the market as well as high-end brands. Have a chat with your make-up artist as I'm sure they would be more than happy to give you some recommendations. My personal go-to is Boot's eye cream, CeraVe Cleansing Wash, and if I was looking for a high-end brand, I would use Elemis. Get into a habit of using these twice a day, and you'll see a difference in your skin in no time."

The majority of brides who come to me have already tried different ways of dieting, so my advice is to start from the basics. What I mean by this is to start to understand food basics. We live in a world where let's face it, there's a diet culture, and brides especially feel the sort of pressure to look a certain way. So, if your main goal is to look a certain way for the wedding, let's do it in the healthiest way possible. I don't fully agree with dieting because it puts this idea into our heads that there are such things as good and bad foods which isn't the case. If a bride comes to me with no prior knowledge of where to start, I'd get them to start by creating a food diary for themselves. This is such a useful tool to help brides to become aware of what they're currently eating. My strategy is all about figuring out where you are now, where you'd like to go and how to get there in the healthiest way possible. And, if we hit roadblocks along the way, the best thing to do is to look back and figure out why and then tweak things to make progress possible. That goes for our training too.

Everyone's idea of alternative is different, so the best piece of advice I can give to anyone planning their wedding hair and make-up is to be yourself. You'll want to look back at your wedding photos and recognise the person you were when you said your vows. Think about how you can take aspects of your everyday style and elevate them for your bridal look. Do you have an undercut or a statement hair colour? If so, think about styles that show it off. Are you known for always having winged liner? Make that bigger and better than ever before.
