Halesowen-based make-up artist Georgia Round has opened a new studio

"After being a make-up artist for many years, I wanted to create a beautiful multi-use environment which would include a luxurious space for my clients," says Georgia. "This led to the opening of The Pump House Studio, a former Victorian pump house, located in Halesowen, West Midlands. During my varied career, I have had the pleasure of not only working with many other talented artists but also working in some fantastic places, including various television and radio sets. I have completed three years with Charlotte Tilbury, where I received continual professional training. More recently, I have promoted my bridal make-up services, and studio at several wedding shows across the UK, and I'm delighted to be attending the Ansty Hall Hotel Wedding show on the 16th January, 2022. My bridal packages are designed so that you have stress free experience from the trial to the wedding day. Tailored to your needs, I will create a fabulous make-up look on you using the best products with the greatest of care and expertise.... read more

How to get good-looking skin for your big day

"I strongly recommend all my brides create a good skincare routine as soon as possible. For dry skin, I would use an exfoliating mask every seven to 10 days. CeraVe does a lovely cleansing foam wash that would be fantastic to use morning and night. Invest in a good moisturiser and night cream. Serums are very good for dry skin, and there are a lot of affordable options on the market as well as high-end brands. Have a chat with your make-up artist as I'm sure they would be more than happy to give you some recommendations. My personal go-to is Boot's eye cream, CeraVe Cleansing Wash, and if I was looking for a high-end brand, I would use Elemis. Get into a habit of using these twice a day, and you'll see a difference in your skin in no time."... read more

Alternative ideas for your wedding hair and make-up

Everyone's idea of alternative is different, so the best piece of advice I can give to anyone planning their wedding hair and make-up is to be yourself. You'll want to look back at your wedding photos and recognise the person you were when you said your vows. Think about how you can take aspects of your everyday style and elevate them for your bridal look. Do you have an undercut or a statement hair colour? If so, think about styles that show it off. Are you known for always having winged liner? Make that bigger and better than ever before.... read more

West Midlands based make-up artist Nicky Foster gives us some of her top tips

When looking for a bridal make-up artist, it's crucial that you research the artists in your area or near your wedding venue. During your research, points to consider are not only cost but the quality of the make-up artist has historically created and the products they use in their kit. Read reviews of the make-up artist's website or social media and pay attention to the quality of the content. Does your prospective make-up artist use filters, or are the photos or videos showcased true to life? Your pictures last a lifetime; therefore, you want your make-up to be naturally flawless without the need for filters. After all, you only want the best for your big day and to be photographed beautifully.... read more

How to style medium-length hair

Sometimes finding the right products is the answer to controlling your hair. Having a trial is very important for every bride, especially if your locks are hard to control. Your stylist should be able to advise on ways to manage your tresses and also find a style that will last throughout the day. For example, if you have fine, whispy, flyaway hair, then embrace it and go for a low bun with pieces of hair falling from it. Incorporating fresh flowers is stunning and will add a more natural look.... read more

How to create a gorgeous wedding day look

We have so many brides that either don't wear make-up or a very small amount day-to-day, so they come to their trial unclear of what they want and all say the same thing 'I still want to look like me.' It's about emphasising your natural beauty and helping you feel comfortable and confident. If you're going for a minimal look, you might want to focus on your skin in the run-up to the wedding. If it's healthy, radiant and glowing, then you may feel as though you need less coverage. I always recommend a trial to all my brides, especially if you're not used to wearing any products.... read more

We interviewed the team at Hair Comes the Bride

We are Hair Comes the Bride, a freelance bridal and occasion hair company based in Hay on Wye, serving mid-Wales, Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Shropshire and the surrounding areas. The company, owned by Beth and Jenny, was created five years ago after working together on some freelance jobs and realising we shared a love of undone, textured styles that were different from the run of the mill bridal looks of the time. We set out to create a company offering an alternative service for brides in our area. Since then, we have further expanded our team to include the lovely Elis. As there are two of us we can cater for large bridal groups, our biggest this year has been a party of 16.... read more
