Honeymooning in your married name
If you are dreaming of jetting off to sandy shores with your sparkling new ring, spouse and matching passports...then this guide from NameSwitch will tell you how to make your dreams come true. Please do have a proper think about whether having matching passports straight away is really that important to you because, trust us when we say, it's not an easy thing to pull off! With recent changes to how processes work, effects of the Pandemic, and added complications like not being handed your marriage certificate on your wedding day, or needing the name on your NHS records to be the same as the one on your passport, an already stressful undertaking just got even more nail-biting! Now it's not mission impossible, but you do need 3 key things to be aligned (and nerves of steel) if this is going to work...

Outdated wedding laws need to change
In an article earlier this year there was discussion and praise aimed towards the Government's plans to allow outdoor weddings to be made permanent. The article also highlighted the eagerly awaited Law Commission report into marriage laws, which was due to be published in July. Now it has been published and we have had some time for the dust to settle, Kate Van Rol, Barrister at 4PB has looked into these recommendations, "Are wedding laws at present 'confusing, outdated and restrictive' as the Commission suggest, or would the implementation of their suggestions trivialise weddings and commercialise the ceremony?". Kate continues...

Churnet Valley Railway is celebrating its 25th anniversary
Churnet Valley Railway, one of Staffordshire's key heritage attractions, is celebrating its 25th anniversary. Perfect for couples who love history, the railway dates back to 1992 and the first passenger train was launched in 1996, travelling between Cheddleton and Leekbrook. Gregory Wilson, the managing director, paid thanks to the volunteers: "We've reached this milestone due to the dedication and passion of our volunteers. We have almost 100 active volunteers, and some have been with us since the beginning. Devoting a quarter of a century to anything requires commitment. Our volunteers come rain or shine, and they are the main reason we are here today."

We interviewed Karen Taylor from Cakes by Karen
I began making cakes at a young age for friends and family and helping with the family Christmas cake every year. My favourite and best subjects at school were home economics and art, which helped me with my path towards a decorating course at college. After I had my son in 2004, I decided to set up my business, and it has since gone from strength to strength. I usually make around 70 wedding cakes a year, but this year, I have around 120 booked in.

Blessed with glorious weather, Beth and James celebrated their big day at the gorgeous Broadfield
Beth and James met at a bar in London. "I was studying at university, and James had recently moved there for a graduate scheme," says Beth. "We started chatting to each other, exchanged numbers and then met a week later in Covent Garden. That was in 2013, and we've been together ever since!" James popped the question during a camping trip in May 2018. "We went to the New Forest, and after setting up our tent, we went for a walk in the countryside," shares the bride. "As we were walking along, James stopped, looked at me and asked me to marry him! It was a really big surprise, but I immediately said yes! It was my perfect proposal – just the two of us, the sun was shining, and the area was beautiful. That evening we went to a pub for dinner and had a glass of prosecco by the campfire. It was such a happy weekend and one we will never forget."
