We interviewed Siobhan Friel from bridal boutique, Dragontail & Rose.
Q – Tell us about your company.
Dragontail & Rose is a family-owned business run by myself and my mother. It’s an extension of Dragontail Bridal Bouquets that has been a successful venture for eight years. My mum is an award-winning florist, she's retired now and is working with me, and has more than 30 years of experience. I have been in hospitality for more than 25 years and 15 of those as a wedding coordinator.
Q – What designers/products do you stock?
We work with several companies to get a full range of gowns. We work closely with a Yorkshire company on a range for D&R, which will hopefully be launching soon.
Q – What should brides expect when visiting your boutique?
We hope brides will have a relaxed and enjoyable visit, we are a lot less formal than many boutiques as our staff are not sales driven, so there’s no pressure.
Q – How long before the wedding should brides book an appointment?
I would recommend buying your dress around 12 months prior. Although lead times have reduced greatly and we can get some gowns within six weeks.
Q – What's your favourite part of the job?
The best part of my job is seeing the smiles and satisfaction from happy couples. There's nothing quite like a hug from a happy bride and groom.
Q – Do you have any top tips for brides looking for their wedding dress?
Be open-minded and try things outside of your comfort zone.
Keep your entourage small, as too many opinions can muddy the waters.
Wear decent underwear and make peace with the consultant seeing you in your undies, and most importantly, enjoy the experience!
