We interviewed Laura Page from the Wolverhampton Art Gallery.

Q – Tell us about your venue.
Situated in the heart of the city, the Wolverhampton Art Gallery provides the perfect location for a cultural wedding. Built in 1884 to house the city’s art collection, the art gallery now boasts a variety of classic and contemporary art featuring the largest pop art collection outside London. The building offers a mix of classic and modern architecture with great facilities, including a grand piano, on-site catering and disabled access. Situated on the first floor, the Georgian gallery is licensed for weddings and civil ceremonies. A spacious, light room with a beautiful glass ceiling, surrounded by the cities collection of 18th century paintings.

Q – What services do you offer?
Wolverhampton Arts and Culture offer a place for the ceremony to take place for up to 96 guests. We work closely with registrars to ensure everything runs smoothly.

A new café will be opening in the Art Gallery in September 2021, so we will be able to offer couples a reception after. Please check the website for further updates.

Q – What should couples expect when visiting the venue?
Upon visiting, couples will be welcomed by friendly staff and shown the licensed room where the ceremony will take place with photo hotspots pointed out. Staff will be on hand throughout the booking process to assist the couples through their enquiries.

See what one of our couples said: "We got married at Wolverhampton Art Gallery last April and couldn't recommend it as a venue enough. The staff were so helpful and answered all our questions, and let us know exactly what to expect on the day. The venue was gorgeous and was not only unique but looked beautiful on our wedding photos." Jemma and Reece – April 2019.

Q – How long before the wedding should couples get in touch?
Couples can get in touch with us at any point, however, there needs to be a minimum of 21 days so that the registrar’s certificates and checks can be arranged.

Q – What's your favourite part of the job?
It warms my heart seeing the couple’s photographs that we have permission to use as part of our publicity material. The photographs really do bring our venues to life, and sometimes I think ‘WOW is that really Wolverhampton?’ I feel very lucky to be doing this job and cannot wait to see more ceremonies taking place at our venues.

Q – Do you have any top tips for couples looking for a venue?
Choose a venue that makes you happy and has a special place in your heart. For something different, Wolverhampton Art Gallery can offer the perfect backdrop for your ceremony and wow guests as they arrive.
