We interview local make-up artist, Lisa Little.
Q – Tell us about your background – how did you become a make-up artist?
I owned a cleaning company for 10 years which did extremely well, but I had a passion for make-up artistry not only the art itself but the way make-up makes people feel. I decided to re-train at a well-known make-up artistry school and gained my international MUA qualification in 2015. It was the best move I've ever made. For the last six years, I've enjoyed a fulfilled career and gained the most wonderful clients. I couldn’t dream of doing anything other.
Q – What packages do you offer couples?
I offer multiple bespoke packages. The packages depend on the requirements of the wedding party as well as location. I have something very exciting coming soon too, so watch this space.
Q – What should couples expect when booking your services?
When booking my wedding services, it’s important to have as much knowledge of the wedding as possible. For example, in the first instance, I need to know the date, time and location. I require a lot of information as I want to understand my couple, I want to know their expectations and be sure I can meet them. Too much information is never enough.
Q – What's your favourite wedding that you've worked on and why?
Oh gosh, I couldn’t possibly pin it on one wedding, every single wedding I do is special. Your a part of someone’s biggest day of their lives, you're with their family, you get to see the magic, the happiness, the tears of joy, it’s just the most wonderful experience, and I get to call this my job. It truly is the most wonderful job.
Q – How long before the wedding should couples book?
I would suggest couples book their chosen artist, especially in this climate as soon as possible. We are now in 2021, and I'm booking weddings in for 2022 and 2023.
Q – What's your favourite part of the job?
The morning of the wedding. It truly is a magical experience. The amount of emotion that is poured into one room is something you just can’t describe. It’s a feel-good factor at it’s finest. There is a buzz because everyone is so joyous and on a high, just incredible.
Q – Do you have any top tips for couples looking for a make-up artist?
Do your research, ask for recommendations, choose someone that suits your style. Always have a trial and if you're not keen on every aspect of your trial tell the artist give them an opportunity to make it perfect. Have images to show your artist, so they understand the style you really want.
