Martina Paul, head planner and coordinator at Wonderful Events shares her top tips for weddings that were due to take place in the next 12 weeks.
1. STAY SAFE AND INFORMED - follow the latest news on hse.gov.uk and follow the latest recommended procedures.
2. YOUR WEDDING INSURANCE – If you haven't taken out wedding insurance at the beginning of your planning you can't do it now. But don't panic. You won't lose anything if you postpone not cancel!
3. PLAN SMART AND ACTION PLAN B NOW:
Consider:
a) postponing your wedding to Autumn 2020 or 2021.
b) hosting a smaller wedding ceremony as planned and postponing the reception.
c) consider a second ceremony with a celebrant so all your guests can watch you get married – you can have more fun with it!
d) cancel – if you have no choice but to cancel please note the terms & conditions of each wedding supplier will apply and you will most likely lose all payments depending on how far from the final payment date you are. Postponing is the best way forward!
4. YOUR GUESTS TRAVELING FROM ABROAD
5. YOUR WEDDING IS ABROAD
6. HONEYMOON PLANNING
Q&A
What if someone in my family gets sick before the wedding?
If an accident or illness prevents the guest of honour or an immediate family member from attending, there would be covered as long as the illness is not due to a pre-existing medical condition.
What if the government or the venue itself restricts the event?
Whis situation would be classed as a covered loss.
What if we decide to cancel the wedding because of the fear of the outbreak or safety?
This is a very difficult situation, but if you decide to cancel voluntarily the usual terms & conditions of cancellation will apply and it would be a loss of deposits and payments as per each supplier's terms & conditions.
What if my guests are unable to attend and i want to cancel or postpone?
Unfortunately, there is no coverage for event cancellation or postponing due to guest illness.
