A breathtaking new venue, set amidst the rolling hills of the stunning Herefordshire countryside, has officially thrown open its doors and is ready to host weddings, parties and corporate events.
To mark the successful completion of Crumplebury's year-long construction, owners Joe and Keeley Evans hosted an intimate launch party on Saturday, 9th November with friends and guests from the hospitality, design and event-planning industries. As they toured the new venue, guests were treated to food from the chefs of Green Cow Kitchens. The fine dining farm-to-table restaurant was opened by the couple in 2012 and operates from the old red-brick pigsty, which has now been incorporated into Crumplebury.

Commenting on Saturday's event, and the launch of Herefordshire's newest events venue, owner Joe Evans said: "The launch was a magical night for all involved. To see our vision finally realised and be able to share that with friends, guests and those who have offered us so much support during this process was just wonderful.
"Crumplebury's ethos is that every special occasion deserves to be memorable and unique, so the venue's spaces have been carefully planned to accommodate different needs. On Saturday, after welcome drinks and canapes, guests were invited into the Atrium hall where the five-metre wooden doors, concealed by the dark-timber-clad wall, opened dramatically to reveal the stunning glass-gabled Grand Hall. Able to comfortably sit 200 people, the hall is Crumplebury's largest event space – perfect for a formal banquet or product launch."

Other rooms within Crumplebury include the 'Snug', featuring a glass-topped wine cellar; the 'Drinking Trough' bar, with fire-pits on its sunken terrace; the upstairs 'Art Gallery', whose natural light and beautiful views make it ideal for a wedding ceremony, drinks reception or board meeting, and of course the restaurant – Green Cow Kitchens.
Joe added: "Green Cow Kitchens will continue to offer tasting menus using locally sourced and foraged ingredients and its strong belief in food provenance, seasonality and sustainability will be reflected in the carefully curated menus offered at Crumplebury."
Crumplebury, which is the name of the old farm buildings on Herefordshire's bucolic Whitbourne Estate, also offers 11 en-suite bedrooms and a two-bed self-catered cottage and already has bookings for weddings, parties and corporate events until 2021. The buildings that make up Crumplebury are nestled discretely in the heart of a 1500-acre private family estate. Their simple agrarian shapes with 'wrinkly tin' roofs and walls blend unobtrusively with the old buildings, and the accommodation block, clad in stained timber, has been cut into the slope of the hillside to fall below the impressive unbroken sky-line. Furthermore, extensive work has been done to protect the existing trees and hedgerows around Crumplebury, and a large wild-flower meadow has been planted to meld the buildings with the landscape and attract bees and butterflies.

Joe said: "We want our visitors to feel that they are guests in our home. We are blessed to be situated in beautiful landscape; through the events at Crumplebury, we are excited to share our corner of Herefordshire.
"For the interior design of Crumplebury, owner Keeley enlisted the help of her close friend and internationally-acclaimed interior designer, Dean Sharpe, who provided invaluable advice throughout the build. One early and crucial suggestion of Dean's was to paint or clad the walls in dark tones, the depth of colour enhancing the beauty of the rural landscape. Another of Dean's tips was to resist wall-to-wall views in favour of framed ones, which direct the gaze of visitors and intensify the impact of the surroundings.Keeley said: "Crumplebury aims to echo and compliment the Herefordshire countryside. With its vibrant and modern aesthetic, it can be a calm retreat from the pressures of professional life or an inspiring place for a dynamic business meeting or simply a beautiful setting for a wedding.
"Wherever possible, we have used natural materials to echo the peaceful Herefordshire countryside that surrounds us. Crumplebury doesn't aim to compete with nature, rather it aims to compliment it. It has been wonderfully exciting to create Crumplebury. To carefully craft this stunning events space and witness our vision unfold before our eyes has been hugely rewarding and we look forward to helping guests create memories here which will last a lifetime."
