The High Field gastropub in Edgbaston, Birmingham, is enjoying a double celebration after coming away from the Food Awards England 2019 awards with not one, but two trophies.

The High Field was named Midlands Gastro Pub of the Year as well as the second best Gastropub in the whole of the country, at this year's awards which took place at The Mercure Manchester Piccadilly Hotel, on Monday 14th October 2019.

Since the awards are entirely voted for by the general public, picking up two trophies on the night is a both a big honour and a major achievement, as Sarah Robinson, Partner at The Peach Pub Company which runs The High Field, explains. "We work very hard to make The High Field a great place where anyone can come and enjoy a warm welcome and some top quality food and drink. We serve pub food alongside modern brasserie dishes, all made with excellent seasonal ingredients carefully sourced by our chefs. We also have a terrific team who work together to look after our guests really well.
"Having this recognised by being singled out for praise in the awards is just fantastic, particularly as it's the views of the people who come to the pub, our guests, that decide the winners. This is something really special, and we'd like to thank every single guest who voted for us," she says. "Achieving recognition on a national level, by earning the title of the second best Gastropub in the UK, is also amazing, and after we've stopped celebrating, we will be redoubling our efforts and working even harder, to come first in this category next year," she says.
The winners of the Food Awards England are a true reflection of the quality and excellence that highlights the English food industry, and recognition of the hard work that goes into providing the nation with delicious dishes and unique experiences at each of the victorious venues.

The High Field is now serving its new autumn menu which includes dishes created for the season by Head Chef Ian Meek using top quality game, fish and seafood. Starters include Air-dried Dorset Beef, Pear, Pecorino and Pine Nuts and Grilled Sardines with Harissa Mayonnaise and Rocket. Mains feature Pan-fried Fillets of Sea Bass served with Saffron Potatoes, Sprouting Broccoli and Shellfish Sauce alongside Shiitake, Chestnut and Oyster Mushroom Pappardelle, White Wine Sauce and Walnuts and Butcher's Steak of the Day.
