A rural romance

Lucy and Greg's nuptials followed a subtle cider apple theme and pink colour scheme

Lucy Barrell married Greg Holton, both 31, at St Peter's Church, Birley, followed by a reception in the grounds of Lucy's parents' farm in Herefordshire on 8th July, 2017.

A rural romance: Image 1I went to 13 different bridal boutiques and the novelty was beginning to wear thin for my very patient mum, bridesmaids and mother-in-law, but I finally found my dream dress and couldn't have been happier with it. I also brought some small-heeled, sparkly shoes so I could dance the night away.

A rural romance: Image 1b We gave our bridesmaids the option to choose their own dresses, which they found at House of Fraser. They wore their hair in different styles and both took my breath away as they looked so pretty.

The bouquets, buttonholes, table plan arrangement and centrepieces were created in an unstructured style in pale pink, peach and cream hues with an added tone of chocolate too.

A rural romance: Image 3I loved my uncle driving me and my dad to the church in his vintage Mustang. I've never felt so elegant having had my make-up and hair professionally done, wearing a gorgeous silk dress with a lovely bouquet in a classic open-top car.

A rural romance: Image 3b Greg chose a three-piece navy French Connection suit from Moss Bros. He also opted for a pair of Barkers brogues.

There was no other choice but my parents' farm for our big-day setting. We used Tents4Elements, which is a brilliant local company specialising in boho-style marquees.

A rural romance: Image 5The cake was by far the easiest decision of the whole planning process. We both knew that we wanted a tiered naked bake with lashings of fruit and buttercream, so we asked a neighbour to make it – the legendary Brenda.

A rural romance: Image 5b We had the band, The Peas, perform. They're a superb duet who cover '80s and '90s classics. We absolutely loved them, they played an unplugged set as guests were arriving, then another later on after the wedding breakfast. They even did a cover of the Top Gun classic Take my Breath Away!

We decorated a trailer with flowers and a handmade 'love' sign, which our guests used as a photo booth.

A rural romance: Image 7We set up a cricket pitch and village fête-style games.

A rural romance: Image 7b It was the best day of our lives and given the choice we wouldn't have done a thing differently. It didn't go by in a blur for us, we just soaked up everything and enjoyed each second.
