October/November 2020 |
|
Welcome to our October/November issue! I feel a bit crazy saying that, how can it be November already, it feels like yesterday that it was January? I think we can all agree it’s been a crazy year, but it’s been so lovely seeing the West Midlands wedding industry come together and help couples power through these tough times.
Whether you’ve recently got engaged – congratulations! – or are re-planning your special day, think of us as your new BFF when it comes to wedding planning. We’re here to support you through every aspect of your day and have put together an issue bursting with inspiration. Our fashion section is full of the latest trends for the whole bridal party, we’ve asked local photographers to send in their favourite images and put together a catering feature to help you create the perfect menu.
If you’re still looking for a venue, don’t despair, we’ve rounded up properties in Cannock and Staffordshire and some of the best local barns.
We’re always looking for real weddings and styled shoots to feature in the magazine so make sure you submit yours at www.yourwestmidlands.wedding/get-involved-real-wedding
Enjoy the issue!

Spotlight on Cannock and Staffordshire |
|
Alrewas Hayes
Alrewas Hayes is a Grade II listed quintessential English country estate. Situated on the outskirts of Fradley Village, the property dates back to 1066 and is believed to be the extensive Staffordshire woodland noted in the Doomsday Book. This large 100 acre estate comprises of a central courtyard, landscaped gardens, woodlands and rural countryside. The hotel fuses historical charm with a contemporary aesthetic, with each ceremony space offering a different style. There are also 11 bedrooms to choose from and impressive architecture throughout.
Ceremonies can take place in The Orangery. Bathed in natural light, with a flourish of period touches throughout, this events space brings an air of elegance to every occasion. Located within the wing of the house, it has a distinctive curved ceiling, arched windows and doors that open out onto the Courtyard. It’s capable of holding 100 guests for the service and 52 for the wedding breakfast.
The Lakeside (200) overlooks the private lake, woodlands and wheat fields beyond. By day this space is a tranquil, whitewashed canvas for the creative and by night an atmospheric, star-lit party space.
Accessed via its own private walkway, The Great Barn (650) is the largest event space. Reminiscent of a cool airport hanger from the outside, it has a sleek and contemporary design on the inside, creating plenty of places to take photographs.
Alternatively, the Lobby (40) can be used for smaller ceremonies and non-legal blessings can take place in the Courtyard.

Surprise your mum with a gorgeous piece of jewellery |
|
The beauty of gifting jewellery to your mother is that you know what styles and colours she likes. Jewellery, whether it be precious, costume, statement or dainty, is personal and an outward reflection of your wedding. Start with the neckline first. Look for a subtle statement piece that goes with her outfit to create a sophisticated look. If you want a piece to stand out, opt for a more subtle shade to keep it looking elegant. Colour isat the core of what we do from single to multi-tone in an array of styles. Alternatively, a sentimental piece that represents your relationship together would be well received, either a significant design or an engraving to help symbolise your special bond.
