February/March 2022

Welcome to the first issue of 2022. It dawned on me over the festive period that in just a few months time I will become Mrs Cullen - eek! I can't believe how quickly time passes, we've been engaged for more than a year now, and it's just flown by. I'm very organised, much to my fiancé's dismay, but the closer we get to the day, the more I feel like I'm forgetting something. We’ve booked all of our suppliers, organised all the outfits, so it's just the small things left to do, but the nerves are starting to set in. My wonderful bridesmaids have been helping keep me calm, but the idea of walking down the aisle without falling over is giving me nightmares. Talking to some of our readers, I know that many of you felt the same in the run-up to your big day, so it's really nice knowing that I'm not alone. If you have any tips for controlling nerves on the day, please feel free to get in touch as any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

I hope you enjoy this issue as much as I did writing it. It's full of tips from local wedding professionals, ideas for styling your venue, fabulous real weddings, styled shoots and an impressive fashion section. If you've recently celebrated your day, been involved with a styled shoot or want to share tips from your planning journey, email me or get in touch via our website

Happy planning!

Park Hall Hotel and Spa

Park Hall Hotel and Spa is a contemporary and stylish Grade II listed hotel with breathtaking views of the Staffordshire countryside. The former manor house still has many of its original features and boasts a Rococo style fountain in the forefront and a split-level Orangery with a glass-vaulted ceiling. The landscaped gardens are the perfect area to relax in with plenty of outdoor seating, interlinked pathways, mature planting and an array of pavilions along with a small children’s play area. The 74 bedrooms are split over three levels, and there’s also a self-contained health club and spa.

The largest room available is The Ballroom with space for 250 nearest and dearest during the day and 550 seated in the evening. This self-contained wing has a grand entrance, marbled floors, statement chandeliers, high ceilings, mirrored columns and floor-to-ceiling Georgian-style windows.

Alternatively, The Orangery, a split-level room with floor-to-ceiling doors and direct access to the gardens, is available with space for 150 loved ones for the service and 180 for the reception.

Licensed for up to 200 friends and family is The Wedding Pavilion. Situated in the mature gardens with views of the surrounding countryside, it’s the perfect location to get married in the great outdoors.

Large celebrations can take place in the Marquee, located within the grounds, it’s a self-contained heated venue with private toilets, a bar area and a maximum capacity for 450 people.

HIZ Jewellery reveals their top five wedding rings for men in 2022

Men wearing wedding rings is a relatively modern thing. It's widely considered that the events of World War II was the catalyst for a sudden increase in men wearing rings as many soldiers fighting overseas wore bands on their fingers as a comforting reminder of their wives and families back home. By the mid-20th century, men wearing wedding rings had become more mainstream. According to men's jeweller, HIZ Jewellery, men are moving away from the traditional look and searching for something a little more unique. HIZ Jewellery uses zirconium with more traditional metals to create a new product range with a twist to give you even more choice for your forever ring.
