February/March 2022

Welcome to the first issue of 2022. It dawned on me over the festive period that in just a few months time I will become Mrs Cullen - eek! I can't believe how quickly time passes, we've been engaged for more than a year now, and it's just flown by. I'm very organised, much to my fiancé's dismay, but the closer we get to the day, the more I feel like I'm forgetting something. We’ve booked all of our suppliers, organised all the outfits, so it's just the small things left to do, but the nerves are starting to set in. My wonderful bridesmaids have been helping keep me calm, but the idea of walking down the aisle without falling over is giving me nightmares. Talking to some of our readers, I know that many of you felt the same in the run-up to your big day, so it's really nice knowing that I'm not alone. If you have any tips for controlling nerves on the day, please feel free to get in touch as any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

I hope you enjoy this issue as much as I did writing it. It's full of tips from local wedding professionals, ideas for styling your venue, fabulous real weddings, styled shoots and an impressive fashion section. If you've recently celebrated your day, been involved with a styled shoot or want to share tips from your planning journey, email me at melissa.barker@kdeventsandpublishing.com or via our website

Happy planning!

Moddershall Oaks

Situated in the heart of Staffordshire, Moddershall Oaks sits on the water’s edge and is surrounded by acres of countryside. This warm and inviting property has a fresh and neutral décor throughout and was designed with a contemporary feel in mind. The venue has a state-of-the-art sound system, Swarovski crystal lighting, hand-made Italian glass chandeliers, a glass bar and moveable walls.

Weddings can take place outside by the water’s edge under the handmade gazebo or indoors. The courtyard, adjacent to the venue, is often used in the evening as a lovely break out space for guests to retreat to should they need to rest their dancing feet. It features a wishing well, a fish pond with a waterfall, seating, umbrellas and heaters.

Included in all wedding packages is a luxurious spa retreat on the night of the wedding. The happy couple will enjoy a bottle of champagne after a delicious cooked breakfast while relaxing in the heated outdoor vitality pool or the shared private hot tub (available exclusively to overnight guests only).

Barnutopia Glamping & Venue in the gorgeous Shropshire and Powys hills is hosting a wedding fair and open day on Sunday 3rd April, 2022, from 11am-3pm. The property is licensed for wedding ceremonies from 15 to 120 people. The grounds, barns and buildings are tastefully refurbished to retain the charm of the farm setting but with everything needed for a stunning and stress-free wedding or event. Barnutopia opened as a glamping site in 2015 and hosted its first wedding in 2017. During the previous year, owner Katrina Boydon participated in a primetime ITV series, Give It A Year, hosted by Baroness Karren Brady. The show followed British businesses during the first year of a new venture. Barnutopia featured as one of the success stories and the first wedding featured in the final cut.
