December/January 2020/2021

It’s that time of year again where the shops are packed, and everyone is getting into the festive spirit. After a rough year, I think we can all agree that a few weeks of Christmas cheer is most welcome! Whatever your plans are, I hope you have a lovely time and take a well-deserved break.

The December/January issue has always been my favourite, and I look forward to writing it every year. It’s packed full of inspiration, adorable products, wintry weddings and the latest fashion trends. To celebrate the end of 2020, we’ve gone all out with a transport feature that will help you find the perfect vehicle, a guide to looking your big-day best and wintry make-up tips. If you’re dreaming of tying the knot in a winter wonderland, then we’ve got you covered on page 23 or if you’re looking for something in Herefordshire, Worcester or Shropshire head over to page 17.

Don’t forget if you’re planning your big day or have recently got married to submit your wedding. You can get in touch with me at Melissab@kdmediapublishing.com or enter online – www.yourwestmidlands.wedding/get-involved-real-wedding

I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and I’ll see you in the new year!

Ettington Park Hotel

Ettington Park Hotel is situated within 40 acres of parkland in a verdant valley with the River Stour meandering through. This property has historic architecture, wondrous ceilings, ornate chandeliers and floor-to-ceiling windows which offer breathtaking views of the grounds. There are also several bedrooms for guests to choose from, extravagant lounges and inspiring suites. Outside there are plenty of places to take photographs, including the impressive turrets, neo-Gothic brickwork, classic arched windows and on-site Norman Church and Orangery.

Couples can say their vows in The South Room, which has large sash windows overlooking the manicured gardens and Normal Chapel. The beautiful wood-panelled ceiling is illuminated by gold chandeliers, and the Duke of Essex stone fireplace makes this room feel grand and luxurious. It can accommodate 100 friends and family for the ceremony and 60 for the evening celebration.

The Bell Tower is also available, capable of holding 100 guests, it’s tucked away in the grounds and has a grand Normal Chapel frame that couples can get married under. The Orangery can also accommodate 100 people and boasts intricately carved arches, manicured Victorian gardens and lots of natural light.

Alternatively, the Library has 18th-century features, oak-wood bookcases filled with an array of colourful literature and space for 60 loved ones.

Receptions take place in either the Great Drawing Room or Private Dining space. Here, guests can dance under spectacular chandeliers, gaze at the stained-glass windows and enjoy magnificent views.

How to incorporate seasonal drinks into your big day

Christmas is the most amazing time to get creative, and it's our favourite time of the year. It's simple to evoke all the senses with a festive-inspired drinks menu. Why not start with a delicious mulled wine or hot spiced apple juice as your welcome drinks? Not only will this warm your guests, but it smells amazing. If you're looking for an alcoholic drink, one of our favourites is our Christmas FizzGINgle Cocktail, which is a generous measure of winterberry gin, topped up with prosecco and a sprinkling of fresh berries.
