April/May 2021

I’ve worked at Country Wedding Magazines for more than four years and over that time I’ve seen trends come and go, inspirational real weddings and worked with some amazing suppliers. As a result, I thought I’d have a pretty good idea of what I’d want at my own wedding but when my partner, Dave, recently proposed I realised I have absolutely no idea. I’m sure lots of you will agree that the first few weeks of having the ‘engaged’ status and wearing the ring feels a bit surreal, but the endless possibilities are also really exciting. Like so many of you, we’re trying to plan the perfect wedding during a pandemic, so things have been a little unconventional so far with online tours, lots of Skype meetings and E-mails. Its been so wonderful to see first hand how suppliers in the wedding industry are going above and beyond to ensure their couples’ days are special, regardless of the restrictions.

If like me, you’re looking for inspiration, then this issue is perfect for you. We’ve rounded up some of the best photographers, spoken to local entertainers, hair and make-up artists and a host of other talented suppliers. We have three real weddings starting on page 33 and four stunning shoots starting on page 69 that’s sure to inspire you.

You can submit your wedding or styled shoot via our website or at Melissab@kdmediapublishing.com

I hope you enjoy the issue!

Somerford Hall

Somerford Hall is an elegant Grade II* listed Georgian mansion situated within 200 acres of landscaped parkland in the beautiful South Staffordshire countryside. This dog-friendly venue retains a plethora of original features, including a grand oak staircase, ornate plasterwork ceilings and walls, large windows, period fireplaces and oak floors throughout. This exclusive-use property uses subtle and neutral tones to create a blank canvas for couples to decorate with their own styles.

There is a wide range of accommodation to suit all tastes and budgets, including the exquisite bridal suite, luxurious four-poster rooms, contemporary country coach house rooms and family-friendly suites.

Outside are formal gardens, follies, lakes, woods, meadows and parkland, meaning there are plenty of spaces to explore and take photographs. Guests will be impressed as they approach along the private driveway through landscaped parkland and see the award-winning house come into view.

There are three stunning rooms licensed for civil ceremonies. The Ballroom, a magnificent room with an ornate plasterwork ceiling, can accommodate 120 guests.

Alternatively, The Drawing Room, an elegant space with large windows overlooking the gardens, can hold 80 loved ones.

Small celebrations are held in the Adam room, which has exquisite ornate plasterwork walls and ceilings and space for 20 friends and family.

Somerford Hall is also licensed for outdoor ceremonies in the beautiful pavilion set amidst landscaped gardens.
