Alice and Nick had to move their wedding due to COVID-19 restrictions but still had the perfect day

Alice and Nick met 11 years ago in sixth form. "We had the same friendship group, so we spent a bit of time together," says Alice. "After some help from our friends, we decided to start dating." Nick proposed during a trip to New York City. "We were in a restaurant called The View Restaurant & Lounge on the final evening," shares the bride. "It overlooks Times Square, and as you eat, it rotates so that you get a 360-degree view of the city. We had always wanted to go but never had the funds, so we began saving not long after we'd bought our first house together. How to choose the right foundation for your skin type

How to choose the right foundation for your skin type

Picking a foundation is hard as it comes in countless shades and formulas. If you have oily skin, use a powder foundation or an oil- free liquid version. These contain powders that absorb oil, leaving you with a smooth, matte finish. Mineral foundations also work well because the dry particles tend to absorb moisture and prevent any shine. Alternatively, if you have combination skin which is oily in some places and dry in others, then you may have a tougher job finding something to suit. I recommend mixing foundations to create a product that suits your needs. Those of you who have sensitive skin or struggle with acne, it's best to avoid certain ingredients that can irritate your skin such as alcohol and fragrance based products.... read more

Wedding dress expert, Jennifer Bone gives her top tips for creating a vintage-inspired look

Wedding dress expert, Jennifer Bone gives her top tips for creating a vintage-inspired look

Here at My Little Wedding Shop, we love a vintage vibe, whether it's the use of perfectly spaced covered buttons, lace detailing or full-length sleeves. The beauty of this theme is how effective it can be when mixed with a modern twist. Having a vintage feel to your wedding doesn't mean you have to go all out with afternoon tea etc, you can pick out elements you like to complement your individual style. A beautifully tailored bridal gown is timeless and combined with a statement piece of lace is a wonderful way of incorporating a period feel into your outfit. This could be by accessorising with a statement, high collared lace cape or having a panel feature in an otherwise plain dress.... read more

We interview local make-up artist, Lisa Little

We interview local make-up artist, Lisa Little

I owned a cleaning company for 10 years which did extremely well, but I had a passion for make-up artistry not only the art itself but the way make-up makes people feel. I decided to re-train at a well-known make-up artistry school and gained my international MUA qualification in 2015. It was the best move I've ever made. For the last six years, I've enjoyed a fulfilled career and gained the most wonderful clients. I couldn't dream of doing anything other. I offer multiple bespoke packages. The packages depend on the requirements of the wedding party as well as location. I have something very exciting coming soon too, so watch this space. When booking my wedding services, it's important to have as much knowledge of the wedding as possible. For example, in the first instance, I need to know the date, time and location. I require a lot of information as I want to understand my couple, I want to know their expectations and be sure I can meet them. Too much information is never enough.... read more

Crumplebury set for recovery following COVID-19 disruption

Crumplebury set for recovery following COVID-19 disruption

A picturesque Herefordshire wedding and events business is expecting to bounce back once government restrictions on large gatherings are lifted, after support from The Agricultural Mortgage Corporation (AMC). Crumplebury, a purpose-built, state-of-the-art events venue and hotel, has seen its entire spring/summer wedding schedule disrupted due to COVID-19. The £3million development backed by AMC is set in the grounds of the 1,500-acre Whitbourne Estate near Worcester and had secured more than £1million in wedding and corporate bookings for 2020, with the majority now set to take place in 2021. Crumplebury and Green Cow Kitchens are recent additions to the Whitbourne Estate, which has been privately owned by the Evans family since 1860. At its core it remains a traditional estate with farming, forestry and property, but in recent years the current generation of the family has diversified its operations into leisure and hospitality.... read more

Top tips for choosing a suit for a winter wedding

Top tips for choosing a suit for a winter wedding

One of the most critical questions we ask grooms-to-be is, what do you plan to do with the suit after the big day? Often they are planning to wear it again to other weddings, so it's worth factoring this into your fabric choices. A mid- weight around 12oz will do you for most months of the year. The key to using it in the winter is texture. Hopsack and glencheck are my personal favourites and look awesome.... read more
