Mexico has been on my bucket list for as long as I can remember, but with a busy schedule I've never had the time to go. So when I was asked to visit the beautiful city of Cancun I jumped at the chance eager to finally swap the cold English weather for some much needed sun.

A royal stay
After an 11-hour flight we finally arrived in oh-so sunny Mexico, where we were whisked away to the luxurious five-star TRS Yucatan Hotel. As soon as I saw the impressive reception I fell in love with the décor; it's grand archways, piano, bar and marble floors made me feel like I was in a palace it was simply beautiful. The friendly staff took our bags and escorted us to the front desk for check in where we were greeted with a fresh towel, glass of champagne and a customised sun hat I knew right then that I was in paradise. We were taken to our villa in a golf cart and shown the available facilities by our very own butler, who was more than happy to personalise the mini-bar, swap the alcoholic drinks and even change the air fresher to suit our tastes it was pure luxury. After a quick change of clothes, we were shuttled to the nearby restaurant called The French, where I had the succulent duck followed by a scrumptious chocolate brownie yum! After such a lovely start to the trip I returned to my room where I found a bottle of champagne, which I enjoyed in the luxurious Jacuzzi while watching Netflix on the personalised smart TV it's safe to say I never wanted to leave.

Pure indulgence
After a delicious breakfast the next morning, the lovely hotel manager gave us an in-depth tour of the venue's facilities I adored seeing the on-site flamingos, the gorgeous church, tennis courts, 11 restaurants and breathtaking white sand beaches that were simply stunning. We spent the rest of the day relaxing by the adult-only infinity pool with snacks and butler service this turned out to be my favourite place on the resort and was the perfect setting to watch the sunset.

An ancient civilisation
The next morning, we ventured down to the lobby where we were greeted by the lovely tour guides from Cancun Adventures who whisked us away to the ancient Mayan city of Tulum. It's one of the most popular tourist spots in the area and is situated near a gorgeous beach that offers breathtaking views of the surrounding area. I've always had a strong interest in history and I found it fascinating learning about how the ancient civilisations thrived in Mexico and with such beautiful views it's definitely worth a visit!
That evening we enjoyed dinner and a cabaret show at the hotel's fabulous restaurant, Chic the performers were amazing, with talented singers, dancers, and even an aerial silk act. It was a delight to watch and what's more we even had a scrumptious dinner and drinks throughout I couldn't have asked for more.

Reach for the stars
The next day we explored the famous ruins of Coba it's one of the tallest temples in Mexico and is made up of more than 120 steep steps and is climbed by more than 50,000 tourists every year! I'm not a very active person so at first sight the climb seemed impossible but I was determined to reach the top when I finally did I felt like queen of the world and the view alone was worth all the hard work. For the second part of the day we stripped down to our swimming costumes and headed over to the nearby zip line, where we each took it in turns to jump off the side of the cliff and ride the line down to the other side it was so much fun and great for adrenaline seekers!
We then walked to a nearby cave that's only accessible through an opening in the top, we took it in turns to be repelled into the depths where a guide was waiting at the bottom to help us get into a rubber ring. The water was gorgeous, the natural spring was refreshing and did wonders for my skin.
After an amazing day I spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing in my luxurious room where I even ordered room service using the smart TV, I was spoilt for choice from pizza to lobster the menu had everything! I eventually decided on a delicious chocolate brownie that was so good I wish I'd ordered two.

A magical journey
After the best night's sleep I'd had in a long time I woke to breakfast in bed and then spent the morning in the Jacuzzi while watching a film from the hotel's impressive collection.
That afternoon we explored the gorgeous caves in Rio Secreto, our impressive guide Tomas gave us the necessary equipment and accompanied us to a nearby entry point where we walked and swam through the crystal clear waters while he explained to us how the formations were created it was amazing.
That evening we enjoyed dinner at Tentazione, an Italian a la carte restaurant that went way beyond my expectations it served a wide range of food and I opted for a classic pizza that was delicious! After dinner we went to one of the hotel's many bars where we listened to live music and enjoyed an array of scrumptious cocktails it was the perfect way to end our last evening.

Pure relaxation
I love being pampered so I was really excited to try the facilities at the Zentropia Palladium Spa the décor was stunning and the variety of hot and cold pools was delightful. They even had a plunge pool to help you cool down after your treatments but after dipping my toe in the freezing water I didn't feel brave enough to try it! I was lucky enough to enjoy a relaxing massage that was amazing, the oh-so friendly masseuse talked me through the process and escorted me to a candlelit room that smelled divine, the experience lasted for an hour and it's safe to say I didn't want it to end! After a relaxing few hours I was really sad to be leaving, everything was perfect from the amazing staff to the luxurious hotel and it's safe to say I'll be returning very soon!
