October/November 2018

This year’s going by in a flash, and I can’t quite believe it’s autumn already! I feel like it’s the season to start preparing – this is when I usually start my Christmas shopping! I’ve made my list of who’s getting what and when I’ll be getting it. Just to clarify, I don’t go overboard – I like to be prepared, and why not? I’d hate to be rushing around the shops on Christmas Eve, rummaging through what’s left of the Boots three-for-two gift sets for aunt Jackie and a Top Gear boxset for dad. My point here is be organised; think about the finishing touches to your wedding early to avoid disappointment, and give yourself some time closer to your nuptials for some well-deserved R&R.

Whether you’re opting for a rustic affair in a barn or a grand manor house wedding, make sure you’ve sorted all the additional details like table confetti, signage or a fabulous flower wall.

Be sure to enter your big day on our Get Involved tab on our website yourwestmidlands.wedding for your chance to feature your nuptials right here in the pages of Your West Midlands Wedding.

Birmingham Botanical Gardens

Less than two miles from the hustle and bustle of the city centre sits Birmingham Botanical Gardens. Nestled within gorgeous landscaped gardens, the striking venue offers three tranquil, licensed settings for your big day. For an intimate occasion suitable for up to 60 loved ones throughout the day the Loudon Suite, boasts panoramic vistas across the gardens, neutral décor and is adjoined to the Veranda and Conservatory, the latter overlooks the Japanese gardens and offers a romantic setting for a drinks reception.

Next, the airy and spacious Terrace Suite comes complete with its own stage, dressing room bar and lounge area, which served in a previous life as the venue’s ballroom and still retains its charm and grace, and original domed ceiling. This space can host up to 200 friends and family to witness your vows and a further 50 guests for a drinks reception or alternatively 150 of your nearest and dearest for your evening reception.

Finally, we couldn’t showcase this hotspot without telling you about the paradise that is the Garden Suite – your nuptials will begin in the sub-tropical and Mediterranean glass house, which can accommodate a magnificent 432 well-wishers, and comes complete with a private bar area, The Palm Lounge, for a delightful drinks reception.
